Here’s what I thought when my eyes popped open this morning and I looked at the ceiling: I’m just happy to be alive. I’m just happy to be breathing.
I’m happy to have somebody beside me. I’m happy that we can laugh together, and I’m happy that we can cry together. I’m happy that my hands do what I want them to do, and I’m happy that my feet take me where I want to go.
I’m happy that I get to gaze upon such a beautiful world, and I’m happy that I get to listen to music that magically soothes my soul.
I’m happy that the sky I see when I lie on my back is always watching over me, and I’m happy to be reminded of the wind that whips my hair around when I sprint.
I’m happy that one small flower lends an ear to my stories, and I’m happy that I can dance when I’m caught in a refreshing downpour.
I’m happy.
오늘 아침에 문득 눈을 뜨고 천장을 바라보니 이런 생각이 들었다.
살아 있는 것만으로도 행복하다고.
숨을 쉴 수 있다는 것만으로도 행복하다고.
옆에 누군가가 있어서 행복하고,
함께 웃을 수 있어서 행복하고,
함께 울 수 있어서 행복하고,
내 두 손이 내가 하려는일을 잘 따라 주어서 행복하고,
내 두 발이 내가 가려는 곳에 갈 수 있게 잘 따라 주어서 행복하다.
이렇게 아름다운 세상을 바라볼 수 있어서 행복하고,
마법처럼 마음을 잘 쓰다듬는 음악을 들을 수 있어서 행복하다.
드러누워 바라볼 수 있는 하늘이 늘 나를 지켜 주어서 행복하고,
힘차게 달릴 때 휘날리는 나의 머리카락이 바람의 존재를 알려 주어서 행복하다.
작은 꽃 한 송이가 나의 이야기에 귀 기울여 주어서 행복하고,
시원한 소나기를 맞으며 춤을 출 수 있어서 행복하다.
나는 행복하다.
Artist Story:
ISoo Jeon is a painter and writer who began his journey with his first children's book at the age of eight, publishing a total of 18 books. He aims to share his words and illustrations with more people, exerting a positive influence on society through his artistic endeavors, and he continues to engage with the community through his writing and art. He also places significant importance on his role as an environmental activist. In 2019, he opened a gallery called "Walking Wolves" in Jeju, dedicating efforts to help the Jeju Single Mothers Center and friends in Africa, striving to uphold valuable causes. This gallery hosts annual exhibitions on different themes, establishing itself as an important medium for making the world a little warmer.
ISoo Jeon presents captivating artworks with a unique sensibility and delicate touch, earning the affection of many. Visitors to his small gallery experience solace and inspiration. The artist's writings and illustrations provoke deep contemplation about the value of life, prompting reflections on significant moments, and resonate profoundly with viewers.
